We serve our community in 6 different goals and pyramid.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, develop confidence, and cultivate skills for life in the Dominican-Haitian community. We aim to run inclusive, sustainable programs for children and youth in the Dominican Republic that can be replicated throughout impoverished global communities.

Dr. Julia Altagracia Cuevas
Medical Director UNAP UCONN-GUANIN, LA PIEDRA
We are pleased to highlight the invaluable contribution of Dr. Julia Altagracia Cuevas, a gynecologist and obstetrician, who has become a fundamental pillar of the Guanin team since 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Graduated from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Dr. Cuevas has dedicated her career to offering free services to a community of more than 6,000 patients.
She is the Founder and president of the Mano de Ángel foundation, Dr. Cuevas has demonstrated an tireless passion for medicine, based on close and empathetic contact with people. Her focus on understanding and addressing both the physical and emotional needs of her patients has significantly improved the quality of life for many.
Dr. Cuevas finds in the process of saving lives, alleviating suffering, and improving the quality of life of her patients a constant source of satisfaction and gratitude. Her dedication and commitment to the community's health are examples of altruism and professional excellence.
Jasmine Decossard
Fundraising Manager
Jasmine is an undergraduate student at the University of Connecticut, pursuing a degree in Physiology and Neurobiology. After participating in the UConn Bridge to Guanin annual trip in January 2024, she is now applying her knowledge to a project in La Piedra, Dominican Republic, supported by her BOLD Women’s Leadership Scholarship from UConn. Her mission as fundraising manager is to fundraise for the construction of multiple houses in the community and provide essential medical equipment. Driven by her passion for international public health, Jasmine has also joined the Guanin USA Board to enhance her impact and support the community further.
November 24-2024, La Piedra, Dominican Republic
Guanin announced today that it has become an official nonprofit partner of UCONN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE GLOBAL HEALTH, According to its General Director, Elias Severino, it is the only way that the poor in health will be able to acquire this service, at the same time the UNAP Guanin la Piedra Medica Clinic, granted the key to the School of Medicine and added the name of UNAP Uconn Guanin la Piedra
