ABOUT US

Our Children are the Future

Centro Cultural Guanín, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization located in La Piedra, Dominican Republic, aims to help young people to discover, develop, and achieve their full potential as adults, citizens, and leaders.

Since our founding in 2001 by Elias Severino Hernández, we have collaborated with a network of coordinators in the United States, Canada, and Germany to provide community development opportunities, along with educational, cultural, and social experiences for our young people and their families.

Our primary goal is to cultivate a community of leaders and role models for generations to come. Children are engaged in activities that challenge and enrich their minds, bodies, and spirits, while also nurturing their self-esteem. Guanín’s safe and caring environment has enabled many young Dominicans to play, learn, and develop valuable skills for life.

We first begin to care for children during the early stages of infancy through our nursery and daycare program. Students are then enrolled in our bilingual education center, where they learn Spanish and English, are tutored in basic elementary-school subjects, and are introduced to art, theater, music, and sports, thanks to the dedication of local teachers, assistance from the Dominican government, and support from volunteers worldwide.

In addition to our educational programs, Guanín also facilitates summer camps for volunteers, home- and clinic-based medical and dental missions, toy and clothing drives, and cultural performances. Over the years, we have brought many smiles and much-needed hope to our impoverished community, and with your support, we can continue to do so for years to come.
